Dear Pabst Theater Group eMembers,
We need your help to stop a proposal by the Wisconsin Center District (WCD) that you may have seen or heard about to demolish the historic 117-year-old Miller High Life Theatre to build a $500 million taxpayer-subsidized hotel.
This plan is based on a major flaw: the claim that a new 4,000-capacity standing-room club can replace a 4,000-seat theater. They are not the same. Major artists like Jerry Seinfeld, Diana Ross, and Ringo Starr require a seated, proscenium environment. Without this theater, these world-class acts will simply bypass Milwaukee.
Why This Matters
Irreplaceable Venue: The High Life is the only 4,000-seat theater in Wisconsin.
Regional Loss: Losing it would make Milwaukee the only major city in the region without a theater of this size.
Flawed Logic: A standing-room club cannot host the theater-style performances that make our city a cultural destination.
While this decision has NOT been finalized, and many have already called it out as a grave mistake, we must act now to ensure this proposal—and anything like it in the future—never happens again.
How You Can Help
For two decades, your support has helped us bring incredible talent to Milwaukee. Now, we need your voice.
Simply REPLY TO THIS EMAIL and voice your opposition to the demolition. We will share your messages directly with the WCD board members who are deciding the theater's fate.
Let's ensure the "powerful and mighty" don't take away a cornerstone of our city's vibrant music scene.
Thank you for your support,
Gary, Matt, and the Pabst Theater Group Team
